As an artist, engineer and scientist with diverse interests, I value innovative, collaborative projects and enjoy creating interdisciplinary, creative partnerships and networks. My combination of academic and industry experience allows me to communicate and facilitate between spaces and across departments, from science and engineering to art and design.

My artistic pursuits have included large-format landscape photography and the cinematography of computer-generated lead animated characters for the motion picture industry, often with a focus on hair and skin.

My scientific and engineering pursuits include topics in visual ecology, namely directional light scattering and structural color; spectral reflectance and color vision; and visual signaling in courtship display.

Currently as Laika’s CG Look Development Artist, I study the optical properties of the unique real world materials designed for Laika’s productions. I employ global illumination and physically-based rendering to deliver photorealistic CG assets efficiently and precisely. To facilitate the development of CG assets I acquire and process color-matched reference photography and set lighting. The endgame is to seemlessly integrate computer generated imagery into traditional stop motion animated films.
